This is truly a scumbag move.

Senators Richard Burr (R) of North Carolina, Kelly Loeffler (R) of Georgia, James Inhoffe (R) of Oklahoma and Dianne Feinstein (D) of California.

All dumped stock following their first Corona briefing.

I don't care what party you belong to, this is a real disgusting move by all four of them.

Should members of Congress and the Senate own individual stocks?

they all serve in congress (and other politicians ) to serve themselves not
to serve their constituents. the lawyers are usually the worst.

First post that you've made in a while that I agree with.

Kind of sucks for them to have to hold on knowing its going to hell but you just can't act on inside info like this.

yes they should , but once they profit on insider trader information then punish them to the highest extent of the law

I believe cases like this are hard to prosecute though.

While Richard Burr was receiving daily briefings on the Chinese Virus and reassuring Americans that the government was well equipped to handle the virus, he was also selling off $1.6 million in stocks which later tanked.

Guys, if it is not INSIDER TRADER INFORMATION, they were just smarter (hindsight) than everyone else...

Yeah it’s a scumbag move to tell us all to have faith, remain calm, while selling all your stock....but if you had the same knowledge of the virus you could have bailed too...

The Senators received classified briefings from Federal Health officials then immediately dumped their stocks. They used the knowledge normal guys like us didn’t have.

I don't see this as "insider" info. Insider info is getting information about a specific company and/or company's stock. Sure, they received a high level briefing that the rest of us were not privy to - but were they supposed to sit on their stocks/portfolio and lose money? If they're allowed to own stocks - as elected officials - I see no problem with them selling when they get information that may cause the market to drop. Honestly, in hindsight I think most of us had a bad feeling...but had no clue it would drop the way it has.

What Burr and Loeffer did was clearly wrong and they could face jail time (lol probably not tho)

Inhofe, Feinstein and the other guy (Johnson I think) it is a little less clear as details still coming out.

Did you watch the news today? CBS highlighted this.

INSIDER TRADER INFORMATION is taken very seriously by the SEC....

IF the content of that meeting qualifies as INSIDER INFORMATION they will be prosecuted

I guess we'll see how it plays out. Loeffler has come out very strong in her defense.

Loeffler claims she is only notified of transactions two weeks after they've made on her behalf. Says she's not involved in the transactions haha.

Bought Citrix (teleworking software) after that initial meeting lol.

But she didn't know.

why would you say haha? do you have a financial advisor? i have no fn idea what he does day to day...i signed over the approval for him to make moves on my behalf without my approval so if THAT is what she's saying, then it's probably accurate. If she calls her advisor and tells him she knows who is getting the Covid vaccine contract then it's a problem

I mean, I guess but immediately after receiving her first briefing from health officials, her advisers sold massive amounts of stock and bought Citrix. And we're supposed to believe those advisers just knew huh?

Her defense is a little better cause she is filthy rich. That amount is a drop in the bucket to her, she could move that volume somewhat often.

Burr networth is like 2m and he sold 1.5 though
